Student Walkout Rocks Phoenix-Area Elections

Hundreds of high school students at Maryvale High School and North High School have just walked out of class on Election Day because they say this election is too important to sit for. For the rest of the day, students from both schools are canvassing neighbors in the area to encourage residents to vote against both Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Donald Trump.

Throughout the day Bazta Arpaio has been notified of widespread reports of voter suppression issues at the polls across the county. The campaign is calling on Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell to extend voting hours until 8 pm CST. The high school students say that if Purcell won’t do her job in getting voters to the polls, they will.
